A brief, sensitive check for each domain. Validated instruments only when it flags.
Spectra opens a published, validated instrument only after a quick Tier-1 question suggests a domain may need attention. A positive result is a signal for clinical review — never a diagnosis on its own.
Depression
Low mood, loss of interest, or other symptoms that interfere with daily life.
Instrument: PHQ-9
A positive screen opens the full PHQ-9; a score at or above the clinically significant cutoff warrants clinical assessment, not a diagnosis.
Anxiety
Excessive worry, nervousness, or feeling unable to control anxious thoughts.
Instrument: GAD-7
A positive screen opens the full GAD-7; scores above the cutoff require provider review and are not a diagnosis.
Alcohol use
Hazardous or harmful drinking patterns that may affect health or safety.
Instrument: AUDIT-C — Sex-specific cutoffs (≥4 men, ≥3 women)
A positive screen opens the AUDIT-C; positive results require clinical assessment and are not a diagnosis.
Drug use
Illicit or non-medical use of prescription drugs in the past year.
Instrument: NIDA single-question screen
A positive screen opens the NIDA single-question screen; positive results require clinical assessment and are not a diagnosis.
Somatic symptom burden
Distress from physical symptoms that significantly affect daily functioning.
Instrument: SSS-8
A positive screen opens the SSS-8; elevated burden requires provider review and is not a diagnosis or disorder label.
Suicidality
Flagged via PHQ-9 item 9. An endorsement of thoughts of being better off dead or self-harm raises a prominent clinical-review flag and requires immediate provider attention under your safety protocol.
This is a risk indicator, not a standalone suicide-risk instrument. A positive flag must be followed by your clinical assessment and escalation workflow.
